THE ADVENTURE
Join us for a fantastic lake day with friends in the Finger Lakes. Rent a kayak or bring your own. Canadice Lake Outfitters will be shuttling kayaks to/from our launch site for our Honeoye Lake brewery tour lake day adventure. A scenic short hike will lead us to the kayak launch site. We’ll enjoy the serenity, sites and sounds of the water with a two hour paddle including a stop at the dock of Twisted Rail Brewing for a beer tasting with one of the brewer owners. We’ll be welcomed back to Birdhouse Brewing with live music and three small batch craft beers paired with cheese from Craig’s Creamery.
The Finger Lakes area is blessed with some of the most beautiful lakes in the world. To experience them from a kayak is to see, hear and feel the water in an intimate way. Honeoye Lake is located 30 miles south of Rochester. It is one of the smaller Finger Lakes and one of the prettiest. It is also the shallowest of the Finger Lakes giving it the warmest water temperature. The area around the lake isn’t very developed which adds to the beauty of the lake with tree-covered hillsides.
The two breweries on Honeoye Lake are must-visit destinations for brewery fans. Arriving by kayak adds to the fun. The paddle will be about two hours. The hike is about 20 minutes in and back. Park and meet at Birdhouse Brewing. We’ll leave as a group at 3:30 to the nature trail for a short hike to the kayak launch where there will be a kayak waiting for you.

Cheese Pairing with Craigs Creamery
Craigs Station Ventures is a partnership of eight family-run farms in Western New York, and Dairy Farmers of America. We’re committed to sustainable practices that reduce waste and help our operations run more efficiently—from creating our own renewable energy to recycling water used on our farms. In fact, our efforts have earned us certification in a New York state sanctioned environmental program. Our goal is to produce the highest-quality dairy products now and in the future, so we remain completely sustainable both to care for our land today and for generations to come.
We operate a bio-digester on one of our farms that entirely powers our creamery. It’s the only one in the US that can make that claim. Our bio-digester and our creamery are located on one of our farms that’s just a few miles from the others. This short distance allows our fresh milk to arrive at the creamery quickly, and also reduces our carbon footprint…we also use solar panels that warm water and power Craigs Creamery farms. These panels serve as an efficient, zero emissions power source and greatly reduce water waste.
Our Craigs Creamery branded cheddar cheese is naturally aged and uses a vegetarian rennet. Because it is made into cheese so quickly after the milking, and the milk is of such high quality, you’ll notice a creaminess in our cheese unlike other cheddars. The perfect balance of sharpness and creamy smoothness.
It’s food for a healthier, more sustainable, more delicious future. Click here to learn more about our Craigs Creamery brand, or head to FarmDrop to place your online farmer’s market order.
