Fiamma Centro has opened a new location in the popular Elton Street neighborhood. This is the second location for owner Guisepe Paciullo, who also owns Fiamma Pizza e Vino in Gates. Paciullo brings the tastes of his native Italy and cooking skills he learned from his uncle’s restaurant in NYC to Rochester for all of us to enjoy. The interior of the restaurant (pictured at the top of this article) is warm with brick walls, high ceilings, rustic hanging chandelliers, and an upstairs lofted dining area.
Bitter Honey, 127 Railroad Street, Rochester, NY
More exciting changes are happening at the Public Market. Rochester has a new restaurant to look forward to. Bitter Honey will spice up the Public Market’s cuisine scene offering authentic Mexican dishes, and artisanal spirits. The restaurant is on track to open is doors mid January on Railroad Street at the Market, more specifically, next to Rohrbachs and Black Button Distilling. The visionaries behind the concept are Josh Miles and Zack Mikida, who helped start the spirits program at the Revelry. Flights and educational seminars will be part of their offerings. We cant wait! Buen provecho.
Boxcar Donuts, 127 Railroad St., Rochester NY
Boxcar Donuts is opening next door to Bitter Honey at the Market in mid December. You may have been delighted by their donuts before and now you’ll have a place to get them whenever a donut craving hits. Their specialty is experimental crazy flavors. The shop will feature a take out window, seating for 50 and a specialty coffee shop.

It’s been open for a month now, but fashionistas everywhere are happy about the big news. Things are sweeter at the Culver Rd. Armory since the opening of Peppermint. The popular Peppermint boutique, moved into a gorgeous and larger space from their previous spot on Park Ave. in mid October. The Waffle Factory opened late October in the Village of Webster offering authentic Liege Waffles, ice cream and milkshakes, and soon breakfast sandwiches. It’s safe to say, the Waffle Factory will probably be able to satisfy your every sweet waffle desire. The restaurant is open 7 days a week.

Triphammer Bierwerks has opened in Fairport, adding another great reason to visit this beautiful canal village. Brewed on location, there are several craft beer flavors to choose from to enjoy there or to take home in 32 oz. Crowlers (like a growler, but in a can- a preferred method of keeping your beer fresh by brewmasters everywhere)- so taste away and take your favorites home with you.

A gastropub and raw bar replaced the much missed Nikko on the ground floor of the Capron St. Lofts. The Vesper Kitchen and Bar, affectionately known as the Vesper serves a full menu of varied offerings. Items such as the grilled peach, bleu cheese, arugala and bacon vinaigrette salad to small plates, snacks, seafood bar, mains and items such as the Trust Fund- a Vesper Martini, two oysters, two shrimp, ceviche, 1/2 oz. caviar, and stuffed olives.

Soul Juicin which opened in 2015 in Victor, recently moved to a new location in Schoen Place in Pittsford, behind Simply Crepes (look for the red barn door). With a quest to live healthier and to help others do the same, Lynn Stewart opened Soul Juicin offering 100% raw cold pressed juice, healthy smoothies, and wellness shots fresh from Finger Lakes Farms (when available). The Rochester Brainery recently introduced Freelance Fridays. Now Rochesterians who work from home, those who want to collaborate with other creatives, artists looking for a sunny workspace, or anyone who enjoys the laptop lifestyle has a new co-work space on Fridays. For $10 they provide your chair, desk, wifi. sponsors will be providing coffee, and snacks so save your money. Also, each Friday afternoon at 12pm you’ll also have the chance to pop into one of the classes. The Friday classes will be $7 for anyone who wants to join and just $3 for Freelance Friday participants who want to learn a bit during their workday.
