Social wellness is taking shape in Rochester — a different kind of social rhythm built around wellness, nature, and real connection.
I recently attended Lumos Social Session, an event that included classes, wellness demos, cold plunge, and smoothie bowls. Over 100 people attended, moving through different experiences and making connections throughout the morning. I think it’s safe to say everyone was smiling. There was a shared energy to it — wellness wasn’t separate from the social experience, it was the social experience.

This kind of social wellness experience has been gaining momentum across the country — and it’s now starting to show up more locally.
One of the ways this is taking shape in Rochester is through Roc Wellness Insiders — a growing hub and community for social wellness experiences and connection, found on Instagram at @rocwellnessinsiders.
Roc Wellness Insiders brings together Rochester locals for reset experiences: hikes that turn into conversations, breathwork in the open air, cacao in the woods, and movement-based activities that feel as social as they are a workout.
This spring and summer, Roc Wellness Insiders is hosting a series of five free monthly wellness experiences— each one designed as an open invitation into that rhythm. Show up, move, meet people, try something new, and reset the pace for a few hours.
The first event on April 25 brought together a guided hike, cacao, and forest bathing. Next up is a Park Walk and Sound Bath in Highland Park on May 31.
Looking ahead, Roc Wellness Insiders will continue to connect the community with local wellness brands and experiences through perks, collaborations, activations, and curated opportunities. Wellness and lifestyle brands interested in collaborating or being part of future experiences are encouraged to reach out.
