Rochester’s Newest Outdoor Event Venue

A-List met with some folks at RIT and we were given a tour of Global Village, their newly available outdoor event space. This was my first time seeing this space or this area of RIT and I was more than impressed. I didn’t know this was here and I saw so much potential for various events to be hosted in this great space.  Global Village has several unique offerings. I’m going to share some of them with you here, but first, let me invite you to their catered open house, so you can be one of the first to see Global Village for yourself while enjoying live music, hors d’oevres, wine, beer and an after work crowd.

Global Village Open House Thurs. July 27, 2017 4:30-6:30pm

Open House Invitation

This event is free. The first 50 A-Listers to RSVP receive a complimentary drink.

Global Village Outdoor Lounge Area

In the summer around here, everyone wants to be outside. So if you are planning a social event, corporate event, have a family gathering or special birthday coming up, Global Village might be just what you are looking for, or didn’t know you needed.  There is sun and shade, comfortable lounge furniture, tables and chairs, water features (see waterfall wall in photo above left) and water fountains (to walk by or walk in), a stage area, and a large fire pit for chilly nights.

Depending on how much space you need, various portions of the area can be reserved for a private event.

Alternate view. The lights look really pretty at night.

Shops, Market and Restaurants

The buildings that surround this great outdoor space house shops, a market and several restaurants.

Global Market

The Global Market sells international foods and crafts from around the world. Again, it dawned on me as I saw this, how did I not know this was here?!

Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina

Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina is a counter serve Mexican restaurant offering customized burritos, nachos & quesadillas in a large and colorful space with indoor and outdoor seating. They offer one of the catering options for Events booked at Global Village.

Shop 1

Shop 1 is RIT’s Gallery Store, a unique and very cool shop that showcases and sells art, craft and design products made by alumni, staff and students.  I saw many unusual and cool designs from the Design Center. I definitely recommend stopping in.

Midnight Oil Coffee Shop

Another building had more places to eat inside including a smoothie shop, and a Midnight Oil coffee shop that serves Starbuck’s Coffee.

Global Village is open to the public so you can go and visit any of the shops, restaurants or market and check it out. Its a great outdoor space when you want to avoid the crowds and have a comfortable place to sit in the sun or shade. If you pull into the main entrance of RIT, go to the right and keep going past the red barn on your left and continue to Parking lot S. Here is a link to driving directions.

Envision your next gathering in this space.  For private event questions, contact Global Village Event Manager Jessica Serpe – [email protected] or (585) 475-2404 for information on the event space.
